Coping with Grief and Loss

Losing someone you care about can change everything. Whether it’s a family member, friend, teacher, pet or someone else close to you, grief can leave you feeling shocked, angry, empty or just numb. Some days you might feel okay, and the next it hits you all over again. That’s completely normal.

If you’ve lost someone and are struggling to make sense of your feelings, Kooth is here to help.

When Grief Feels Too Heavy to Carry

Everyone experiences grief differently. There’s no right way to feel, and no set timeline for when you should feel “better.” You might notice:

Sudden bursts of sadness or anger that come out of nowhere

Feeling disconnected from friends or school

Guilt about things you said or didn’t say

Trouble sleeping, eating or concentrating

Worry about how others around you are coping

Sometimes people try to keep it all inside, but bottling up emotions can make the pain last longer. Talking about your loss can help you find small moments of calm and understanding again.

Why Talking Helps

Grief can make you feel completely alone. Sometimes you don’t want to burden your family or friends, or you worry they won’t understand. That’s why Kooth exists – a place where you can talk openly without judgement or pressure. Your chats are completely anonymous, and every message is moderated to keep you safe. If you come back later, your counsellor can see your previous notes, so you don’t have to start again each time. You can take things slowly and express yourself in your own way.

A Space to Remember, Reflect and Heal

It isn’t about forgetting the person you’ve lost – it’s about learning how to live with that loss while still caring for yourself. Whether you want to talk, read, write, or simply know that someone is there, Kooth gives you a gentle, supportive space to begin healing. You don’t have to face grief alone. Support is here whenever you’re ready.
